Take a Stitch Tuesday Week 33

This week the stitch for the Take a Stitch Tuesday Challenge is a stitch that is often forgotten and not often used. To act as a friendly reminder (for myself as well as others) this week I have chosen Scroll stitch.
At first glance it does not look too exciting but changing the spacing of this stitch creates all sorts of interesting effects from a braid like stitch to a line of spaced knots.
You can work it on quite a tight curve so it can coil over an area with ease.
You can also work it back to back or over a ribbon foundation to add a strong line to piece.
You can also change the direction of the stitch quite radically to create interesting and dynamic lines. These can by used to couch down heavier threads and add even more interest to a project.
Stacked single or double units also create an interesting effect

It has taken me four weeks but I have finished my French Knots. I am rather pleased as I have done something slightly different for me. I had planned to do bullion knots next, but this scroll stitch has taken my fancy, I may go with this one instead.

I’m fascinated with this stitch, Sharon — never heard of it before! I sure hope you’re feeling better, too…hard to be excited about stuff when you feel like dogmeat!! Best Texas Regards to ya!!

I am having much more bother with my camera clarity than this wonderful stitch. I have found it very easy to do, great to feel and lovely to look at, but you won’t guess that my the picture.

I think that is what I did, I followed instructions but i wasnt awfully happy about this stitch, I either pulled too hard or left it too loose. Having said that my sample is just that, a sample but I may be very pleased to have it one day.

I have finished my Scroll Stitch sample but it is a bit ordinary as I have tendonitis in my thumbs at present–but I will soldier on.

Hi Sharon,
I’ve added my Scroll Stitch to my blog. This was a new one for me so I just “doodled”. It was fairly easy to do and I enjoyed playing with this one.
